Sir Bernard Rix is a retired judge of the UK Court of Appeal and the Commercial Court, where he was responsible for introducing the Woolf civil procedure reforms. He is an arbitrator and sits on the panel of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Court, and is a current judge of the Court of Appeal of the Cayman Islands. He gave a guest lecture on the 5th December 2017 on the interpretation of contract clauses in both civil and common law jurisdictions, drawing on his vast experience of both systems.
